Udinia is a genus of insects belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Scutelleridae. Known for their shield-like appearance, these bugs are significant pests in agricultural landscapes. Their robust morphology provides excellent protection, allowing them to survive various environmental conditions while feeding on host plants.

The primary hosts for Udinia include cereal crops such as wheat, barley, and various wild grasses. They are particularly attracted to tender shoots and developing ears of grain, where they can cause the most damage during the critical growth stages of the plant, potentially leading to significant yield losses if left uncontrolled.
