Xyleborinus is a genus of bark and ambrosia beetles belonging to the Curculionidae family. These insects are notorious pests that bore deep into the wood of trees, often causing severe stress or mortality in both orchard and forest environments by disrupting the tree's internal transport systems.

This pest affects a wide range of host plants, including various fruit trees like apple, pear, and plum, as well as several broadleaf species. They are particularly attracted to trees that are already stressed due to drought, poor soil conditions, or physical damage, making orchard hygiene a critical factor in prevention.

The biology of Xyleborinus is unique as they are ambrosia beetles, meaning they cultivate specific fungi within their galleries. The female bores into the wood, creating tunnels where she lays eggs.
