Xyleborinus andrewesi is a wood-boring beetle belonging to the Curculionidae family and the Scolytinae subfamily. Known as an ambrosia beetle, this species does not feed on wood fibers directly but instead relies on a symbiotic relationship with fungi that it introduces into the host tree's galleries.
This beetle is recognized as a polyphagous pest, capable of infesting a wide range of woody plants. Its host range includes various deciduous trees, including fruit-bearing species and ornamental plants, making it a potential concern for both agricultural and urban forest management programs.
