Zygaena carniolica, commonly known as the Sainfoin Burnet, belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Zygaenidae. In agriculture, this moth is recognized as a potential pest that specifically targets sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) and related leguminous plants, occasionally causing localized outbreaks.
The host plants for the larvae are primarily species within the Fabaceae family.
