Description
Benalaxyl-M is a highly active fungicide belonging to the phenylamide (acylalanine) chemical class. It is widely recognized in professional plant protection for its targeted activity against Oomycetes, a group of fungi-like pathogens that cause devastating diseases in various agricultural and horticultural crops.
The primary mode of action of Benalaxyl-M involves inhibiting the biosynthesis of ribosomal RNA within the pathogen's cells. By interfering with these essential processes, the substance effectively stops the growth of mycelium and inhibits the production of sporangia, thereby preventing both the primary infection and the secondary spread of the disease.
This fungicide is extensively used on crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and grapevines. It is particularly effective against late blight (Phytophthora) and various forms of downy mildew. Due to its systemic properties, the compound is absorbed by leaves and stems, providing a curative effect if applied shortly after infection and a robust preventive shield for growing parts of the plant.
Practical application of Benalaxyl-M requires adherence to recommended rates and timing. In modern integrated pest management systems, it is often used in combination with other active ingredients to enhance efficacy and extend the duration of protection, which is crucial during high-pressure disease seasons.
- Strong systemic redistribution within the plant
- Excellent protection for developing tissues
- High resistance to rain wash-off
- Effective against strains resistant to other chemicals
Operators must adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and respiratory masks. Proper handling and storage are mandatory to prevent accidental exposure, and pre-harvest intervals must be respected to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and residue limits.
