Grevillea (Grevillea formosa x Grevillea banksii) is a highly ornamental interspecific hybrid belonging to the family Proteaceae. This evergreen shrub combines the hardiness of Northern Australian species with exceptional aesthetic qualities of its inflorescences, making it a valuable object for landscape design and the cut flower industry.

The origin of this hybrid is linked to the Australian continent, where the crop adapted to specific growth conditions. In commercial and amateur horticulture, the cultivation range is limited to tropical and subtropical zones, as the plant is extremely sensitive to low temperatures and requires protection if the thermometer drops below critical levels.

Botanically, the plant is characterized by feathery, rigid leaves and unique inflorescences resembling serrated brushes or spider-like structures. The main flowering period occurs during the spring and summer season, with the brightness of the bracts varying from creamy white to deep red depending on the dominant genetic traits of the parents.

Crop agronomy requires strict adherence to lighting and drainage regimes. The plant prefers sunny locations with well-aerated, slightly acidic soil low in phosphorus, as an excess of this element can lead to the death of the root system due to the hypersensitivity of the Proteaceae family. Watering must be moderate, avoiding moisture stagnation in the root zone.
