Description
The "Old Fortress Silver" aster species represents an impressive plant with a typical pyramidal bush 60-70 cm high. Bushes form 10-12 sturdy flower stalks with large double flowers 10-12 cm in diameter, possessing a subtle aroma. Flowers are distinguished by exceptional density and strength, allowing them to maintain an attractive appearance even in rainy weather and stand for a long time in bouquets. Due to high decorativeness and durability, the aster is excellent for cutting and group plantings.
The variety is ultra-early, which allows sowing seeds for seedlings from February to April, and transplanting into the ground from May to June. Blooming begins in mid-July and continues until September. For cultivation, it is recommended to use humus-rich, loamy soils with pH 5.5-6.5, and also provide plants with complex mineral fertilization with a predominance of nitrogen. Seedlings are transplanted in the phase of 2-3 true leaves, and planted in the ground at 40-50 days old with an optimal temperature of 16-18 °C and a planting scheme of 15×20 cm.
For successful cultivation of the aster "Old Fortress Silver", it is important to choose well-lit areas and avoid planting in the same place for more than one year, as plants are prone to fusarium infection. Preventive treatments are recommended to protect against diseases. Thanks to careful breeding, this variety has stable large-flowered and decorative qualities, making it an attractive choice for gardeners and florists.
