Description
Aster peony-flowered «Silver Tower» is a perennial plant reaching up to 65-70 cm in height with a compact cylindrical bush and dense stems. The inflorescences have a peony-like shape, are double-flowered, 8-10 cm in diameter, with a delicate purple-blue hue that smoothly transitions to a white shade at the base of the ray florets. Blooming occurs from July to September, making the plant attractive for use in mixed flowerbeds, border strips, and for cut flowers. The flower stalks are sturdy and reach lengths of 40-45 cm; up to 10 inflorescences can form on one plant.
To successfully grow «Silver Tower», choose well-lit areas, although the plant can also withstand partial shade. Light, fertile loam or loamy sand soils are preferred; organic fertilizers should not be applied in the year of planting. Aster is highly cold-hardy and can withstand frosts down to -3-4 °C, expanding its cultivation opportunities in various climatic conditions.
Cultivation is typically done via seedlings. Seeds are sown from mid-February to April at a depth of about 0.5 cm; at a temperature of about +15 °C, seedlings appear within 7-14 days. After the first pair of true leaves appears, pricking out is carried out, and seedlings are grown at a temperature of +12-15 °C. Transplanting into open ground is done in the latter half of May at a distance between plants of 25-30 cm. Due to its decorative qualities and unpretentiousness, aster «Silver Tower» is an excellent choice for creating bright and stable floral compositions.
