Description
The Astra variety SINFONIA features a columnar bush shape, reaching a height of 95 to 100 cm, adorned with large hemispherical and spherical inflorescences approximately 12 cm in diameter. The flowers display a purple hue with a sheen; the ligulate petals point upwards and curve inward, fitting tightly together. Thanks to its decorativeness and vivid color, the Astra is widely used for planting in combined flower beds, on borders in rows, and also serves as excellent material for cut flowers, making it a universal garden and floral arrangement ornament.
For successful cultivation of SINFONIA, choose open, sunny locations, although the plant can tolerate partial shade. Light, fertile soils with good drainage are preferred, as the Astra does not tolerate water stagnation well. Organic fertilizers should not be applied in the year of planting. Sowing seeds from mid-February to April at a depth of about 0.5 cm, sprouts appear within 7-14 days at a soil temperature of about +20 °C. Seedlings are transplanted after 3-4 weeks and grown at a temperature of +12-15 °C. Transplanting into open ground is conducted in the second half of May with a distance between plants of 25-30 cm.
To maintain abundant and prolonged flowering, the Astra requires regular fertilization with mineral fertilizers, especially during bud formation. The plant exhibits good resistance to most common diseases; however, to prevent fungal infections, crop rotation should be observed and prophylactic treatments conducted. SINFONIA will be an excellent choice for gardeners wishing to brighten their plots with vivid and striking flowers featuring a long flowering period.
