RED CANOPY

The elegant crown shape of the chokecherry 'Red Canopy' – wide elliptical, 5–6 m in diameter and about 4 m high. The crown is dense, leaves are oval with a sharp tip, green at the beginning of the season, and by mid-summer they acquire a bright purplish hue, which persists until leaf fall. The foliage is full, glossy, and shiny.

The variety is distinguished by abundant flowering: large white fragrant clusters appear in May, and the inflorescences – long, multi-flowered, gathered into drooping racemose groups. The flowers have a pink-purple tint and a pleasant aroma. The fruits are black, shiny, 0.6–0.7 g in weight, have a good taste and can be used as an edible plant.

'Red Canopy' – a compact tree suitable for garden plots and city parks. The root system is highly branched and superficial, the tree is sun-loving and frost-hardy. The variety belongs to the medium-late ripening period, and with sufficient pollination can be grown as a fruit tree. It is undemanding to soils and grows well in various conditions.
