Gintama cabbage is a mid-season hybrid of white cabbage developed by the well-known Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This hybrid is characterized by high growth vigor and resistance to stressful growing conditions, including soil and air drought. The vegetation period ranges from 90 to 110 days depending on planting dates, allowing cultivation both in open fields and under cover. The plant is adaptable to various soils and demonstrates excellent stress tolerance, contributing to stable yields and product quality.

Gintama cabbage heads have a round shape, dense internal structure, and average weight ranging from 2.5 to 5 kg. The leaves are a deep green color with a strong waxy coating and wavy edges, giving the plant an attractive appearance. Due to the uniformity and density of the heads, this cabbage is ideal for various uses: fresh market, salads, and especially for pickling, where its superior internal quality is valued. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to fusarium and tolerant to bacterial diseases, reducing the risk of losses during storage and transportation.

Gintama cabbage has a medium-long storage life — from 4 to 5 months — allowing it to retain freshness and flavor until March if harvested in November. The recommended planting density is 30-45 thousand plants per hectare, promoting optimal development and maximum yield, reaching 490-650 centners per hectare. Under favorable conditions and timely fertilization, yields can significantly increase, making this hybrid a profitable choice for farmers and gardeners.
