Description
Variety selected by the Stavropol Experimental Station for Horticulture. Obtained by crossing the varieties Zolotaya and Zhabule. Breeders: A.I. Seredenko and V.V. Starikh. Approved for cultivation in the Stavropol region in 2000.
Tree above average size, medium-growing. Crown flat-round, spreading, densely foliated. Main branches of medium growth, thick, grow at an angle of 45-50º, moderate shoot-forming capacity. Leaf large, narrowly-ovate, long-pointed, green, smooth, matte, leaf margin doubly serrated, petiole medium, light green, weakly colored, with a slight carmine tint. Flower large, petals white. Fruit type mixed — on flowering spurs and annual growth. Majority of flowering spurs located on 2-6-year-old wood.
Fruits large, one-dimensional, weight 7.7 g, broadly-round, light-yellow with bright pink blush covering most of the fruit surface. Skin thin, light-yellow with waxy coating. Calyx small, wide. Fruit apex rounded, slightly depressed. Fruit base with indentation, pit medium. Seed line fine, poorly expressed, does not crack. Peduncle long, firmly attached to fruiting branch and fruit, detachment wet. Flesh light-yellow, tender, juicy, watery, slightly acidic-sweet, dessert-like. Juice colorless. Stone semi-detached from flesh, medium, flat-round. Fruits contain 13.9% dry matter, 13.2% sugars, 0.6% acids, 10.4 mg/100g ascorbic acid. Transportability of fruits at technical maturity medium. Dessert variety.
Blooms at medium time, self-sterile. Best pollinators: Krasnodarskaya Rannaya, Franz Iosif, ELS 3-15 (Olimpiada).
Medium maturity variety (second decade of June). Enters fruiting early — on 3-4th year after planting. High yield — 45-50 kg from an 8-year-old tree. High winter hardiness of tree and flower buds. Leaves moderately affected by coccomycosis. Pruning performed on improved open-layered crown. Variety requires sunlight, warmth, moisture, and well-drained soils. Responsive to fertilizer application and rejuvenating pruning. Requires conductor transfer to lateral branch at 3.5-4 m. Requires measures to protect against pests and diseases.
Advantages: very early fruiting, high-yielding, high winter hardiness; fruits large, attractive, dessert-like, excellent taste; fruits and leaves moderately resistant to coccomycosis, fruits resistant to cracking in rainy weather.
Disadvantages: large tree size, unsuitability for mechanical harvesting, low transportability, self-sterility.
