KDC ROSEBUD

KDC Rosebud is a medium-early lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) variety recognized for its quality. It is included in the state register of the Ural region and recommended for cultivation in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The vegetation period is 65-84 days, and plant height ranges from 29 to 41 cm. Seeds are small, convex, dark-pink with a speckled pattern; cotyledons are orange. Seedlings are characterized by anthocyanin coloration.

The crop is distinguished by resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought at the level of standard varieties. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 27-33 g. Average yield in Bashkortostan is 15.6 c/ha, exceeding the standard Vekhovskaya 1 by 5.4 c/ha; maximum yield is 30.5 c/ha (2016). Protein content reaches up to 29%, and the culinary rating is excellent. No disease infestations were observed during trials.

For successful cultivation of KDC Rosebud, it is necessary to observe optimal sowing conditions: soil temperature +5…+6 °C, moisture around 700 units, and proper soil preparation (leveling, rolling with chain or spiked rollers). Lentils do not require nitrogen fertilizers due to biological nitrogen fixation by root nodule bacteria. At a yield of from 10 c/ha, the crop remains profitable, and early sowing allows for effective use of winter moisture.
