Description
Red Clover variety Tempus is a tetraploid variety characterized by high productivity and valuable feeding qualities. This variety is renowned for its milk-promoting properties and pleasant taste, making it especially attractive to livestock farmers. Tempus provides uniform yield throughout the year, ensuring livestock receive complete and high-quality feed. Moreover, the variety withstands winter conditions well, contributing to crop stability and reducing risks during cultivation.
Tempus can be sown either as a pure stand or in mixtures with other crops, such as multi-cut ryegrass. The recommended seeding rate is 25 kg/ha for pure stands or 12 kg/ha in mixtures with 20 kg/ha of multi-cut ryegrass. Sowing can be conducted from spring until late summer at a depth of 1–2 cm. Successful cultivation requires nitrogen-containing fertilizers: 30 kg/ha when red clover has been absent for a long time on the field, or 40–80 kg/ha in mixtures with cereal crops, depending on the composition of the stand.
In addition to its feeding qualities, clover Tempus plays an important role in agronomy, improving soil structure and enriching it with nitrogen due to its nitrogen-fixing ability. This contributes to increased fertility and improved physical properties of the soil. The variety is well-suited for use as a cover crop and serves as an excellent predecessor for many agricultural crops, making it a versatile and profitable choice for farmers.
