DN Meotida

The hybrid sweet corn DN Meotida is a versatile and cold-resistant variety with a maturity group of FAO 190, intended for grain and silage production. The plant reaches a height of 240-250 cm, does not tiller, and ears are attached at a height of 90-100 cm. The ear has a conical-cylindrical shape, 22-24 cm long, with 14-16 rows of kernels and a red cob. The kernels are yellow, cream-colored, toothed, oval-shaped, with a 1000-kernel weight of 280-290 g. Grain yield reaches 78-80%, with kernels exhibiting high moisture release and low pre-harvest moisture, facilitating harvesting and improving grain quality. The hybrid demonstrates high resistance to adverse conditions: it tolerates early spring frosts, drought, and heat, as well as resistance to vegetative lodging, major diseases, and pests. On drought and cold resistance scales, the hybrid scores 8-9 points, and on disease and pest resistance, it scores 8-9 points. Due to these qualities, DN Meotida is successfully grown in both southern and northern regions of Ukraine, including the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia. Over the years of testing, grain yield in the steppe zone ranged from 6.5-7.5 t/ha, while in the forest-steppe and Polissia regions — 10.0-12.7 t/ha at grain moisture content of 15.5-15.7%. The vegetation period is 105-116 days. Recommended planting density varies by region: 55-65 thousand plants per hectare in the steppe, 70-80 thousand in the forest-steppe, and 80-85 thousand in Polissia. Seed treatment includes fungicide protection and growth stimulant, which contributes to increased yield and plant resilience. The hybrid DN Meotida is a reliable choice for farmers seeking maximum productivity and grain quality under various climatic conditions.
