A proven selection for consistent grain and silage yields with high disease resistance.
Description
Yield consistency and field reliability
When selecting the "Dniprovskyi 298" hybrid, we rely on established breeding standards from the Grain Crops Institute. This is a practical choice for those who prioritize agricultural consistency over risky novelties. The hybrid shows excellent adaptability to Ukrainian climate zones, which simplifies field management and planning.
Operational performance and resistance
The dent-type kernel ensures efficient moisture loss during maturity, which effectively reduces post-harvest drying costs. The 120–140 day maturity window requires precise planting schedules, but it delivers a predictable return in both grain and silage yields. A key advantage is the hybrid’s biological resilience:
- Strong resistance to fusarium and root rot, crucial for crop rotation stability.
- Low susceptibility to corn smut, which protects quality during stressful weather years.
- Robust defense against the European corn borer, saving significant budget on insecticides.
Planting density management
To fully utilize the hybrid's genetic potential, we recommend a density of 75,000–80,000 plants/ha in regions with sufficient moisture. In drier conditions, we adjust this to 70,000–75,000 plants/ha. For silage-only purposes, a density of 45,000–50,000 plants/ha yields a well-balanced nutritional forage. This hybrid is a strategic asset for minimizing operational risks and ensuring predictable results.

Corn hybrids are classified by maturity groups and by the FAO number. All corn hybrids are distributed according to the FAO scale. Under Central European conditions, a difference of 10 FAO units between hybrids results in a 1-2 day difference in their maturity. The higher the FAO... |

Dual-purpose hybrids: for silage and grain in all growing regions. These are "stay-green" type hybrids, meaning the plants remain green for a longer period. However, this does not affect the sugar, cellulose, and hemicellulose content, nor the degree of lignification of the plant... |
