A resilient dent-grain hybrid designed for consistent yields and superior resistance to common maize diseases.
Description
Reliability and Field Performance
Working with the LG 3395 hybrid from the French breeder Limagrain, I've found it to be a dependable choice for grain production. The dent grain type performs exceptionally well, showing impressive dry-down rates. In practical terms, this means lower energy costs at the grain dryer and less stress during the harvest season.
Disease Resistance as a Cost-Saver
One of the biggest headaches in maize cultivation is disease management. LG 3395 addresses this through strong genetic resistance. Over several seasons, we have observed high resilience against Helminthosporium leaf blight, as well as common and boil smut. This level of natural protection allows us to reduce our fungicide application schedule without compromising the health of the crop, effectively managing risks from pathogens like Fusarium.
Planting Density Recommendations
Based on our field management experience, optimizing plant density for LG 3395 is key to reaching its potential. We adjust our seeding rates based on water availability:
- High-input / Optimal conditions: 75,000–80,000 plants/ha.
- Moderate conditions: 70,000–75,000 plants/ha.
- Lower fertility or drier zones: 65,000–70,000 plants/ha.
The hybrid stands well and shows excellent uniformity across the field. This consistency makes harvest adjustments easier and keeps grain loss to a minimum during the collection process.
