When selecting seed material for grain production, every agronomist seeks the right balance between yield potential and disease resistance. Serbian breeding from IFVCNS (Novi Sad) is well-regarded for its adaptability, and the NS 393665 hybrid is no exception. As a simple hybrid, it performs predictably across various soil types, which simplifies the planning of agrotechnical operations.

The hybrid’s phytosanitary shield

The primary concern in corn cultivation is the infection pressure. While working with NS 393665, I have noted its high tolerance to a complex of pathogens. This hybrid stands strong against root and stalk rots, which is particularly critical in the second half of the growing season when the plant is at its most vulnerable. Resistance to rust and Fusarium allows for confident planning of the protection program without fearing sudden disease outbreaks during wet summers.

Cultivation technology insights

The FAO range of 90–1240 requires the agronomist to have a clear understanding of sowing dates. My experience with this material shows excellent response to planting density:

• Under intensive technology with full fertilizer application rates, it is optimal to aim for 75,000–80,000 plants per hectare.
• In fields with moderate fertility or in areas with moisture risk, it is better to lower the density to 60,000–65,000 plants per hectare so the plants do not compete for moisture.

The hybrid develops a well-filled ear and demonstrates excellent moisture release, which reduces post-harvest drying costs. This makes NS 393665 an economically viable choice for farms focused on commercial grain production.
