A powerful copper-based contact fungicide for effective control of fungal and bacterial diseases in orchards and field crops.
Description
Reliable copper-based protection for your crops
The CHAMPION® fungicide from the Austrian manufacturer Nufarm is a time-tested contact treatment based on copper hydroxide. Unlike many generic alternatives, the aqueous suspension concentrate formulation ensures rapid coverage of the leaf surface and excellent adhesion, which is vital for effective crop protection under changing weather conditions.
When and why use CHAMPION®?
Agronomists rely on this product as a foundational tool in anti-resistance programs. It is used both for prevention and for controlling infections during early vegetative stages, as well as providing strong protection against bacterial diseases:
- Vineyards: Essential for controlling downy mildew (mildew). Due to its contact action, it creates a protective barrier on the vine's surface, blocking spore germination.
- Orchards (apple, walnut): Highly effective against scab and various leaf spots. It is particularly relevant during a wet spring when pathogen pressure is at its peak.
- Vegetable crops (tomatoes, sugar beets): Used to manage late blight, early blight (alternaria), cercospora, and various bacterioses.
Practical application insights
Application rates for CHAMPION® range from 0.5 to over 4.0 L/ha, depending on the crop, the severity of the infection, and the growth stage. Given the high concentration of copper, strict adherence to the application schedule is required: up to 4–5 treatments per season are permitted. While classified as a Category 3 hazard, it is considered relatively safe to handle with standard personal protective equipment.
The primary advantage of CHAMPION® is its unique ability to halt the development of bacterial infections, which many systemic fungicides fail to address. This makes it an indispensable element in the crop protection strategy for walnuts and tomatoes, where bacteriosis can quickly compromise a significant portion of the harvest.
