The General КРН 5.6 cultivator represents a classic configuration of equipment for row crops, where the focus is on frame rigidity and ground contour following. In intensive farming, stability of the operating depth is a critical factor — an aspect that engineers at 'General' prioritized when designing the sections of this cultivator.

Section geometry and contour following

The heart of the unit is the parallelogram suspension of the sections. It ensures a constant angle of attack for the working tools relative to the horizon, even when traversing uneven soil. Unlike rigid frames, this design allows each section to handle micro-relief individually, preventing the sweeps from popping out on ridges or burying themselves in depressions. The use of reinforced springs in the hitch units creates the necessary pressure for stable weed cutting at a specified depth (from 6 to 16 cm).

Working tools and durability

• Sweeps: Manufactured from heat-treated high-carbon steel, providing a long service life when working in dry or abrasive soil conditions.
• Fertilization system: Optional fertilizer hoppers allow combining cultivation with targeted fertilization, which reduces the number of tractor passes across the field and minimizes soil compaction.
• Adjustment: The sweep mounting points allow for rapid adjustment of inter-row spacing (standard 70 cm), making the unit versatile for sunflowers, corn, and other tall-stemmed crops.

The transport position is implemented via a central frame capable of withstanding high cyclic loads during turning. This is a crucial engineering decision for farmers working on complex field configurations, where maneuvering intensity is significantly higher than average.
