KPS Engineering: Balancing Weight and Working Depth

The KPS cultivator remains a benchmark tool for fallow and seedbed preparation due to its precisely calculated frame geometry. At the heart of the design is a sectional frame made of structural tubing, which provides rigidity when working on hard soils while maintaining enough flexibility to follow the field's contours. A key component is the spring suspension mechanism for the working units. Unlike rigid shanks, the spring-loaded block deflects upon striking an obstacle (like a stone or compacted patch) and instantly returns to the set position. This eliminates machine “lifting,” ensuring a uniform working depth—a critical factor for consistent germination.

Sweep Geometry and Efficiency

The KPS working tools are designed to create an optimal soil micro-relief. The sweep angle is calibrated to do more than just cut weeds; it creates a self-sharpening effect during operation. In practical terms, this leads to savings on consumables: high-quality, heat-treated steel maintains its edge longer, reducing draft resistance and, consequently, tractor fuel consumption.

• Overlap System: The multi-row layout of the sweeps eliminates gaps, providing full coverage of the tilled area even at higher operating speeds.
• Depth Control: Adjusted via support wheels with a screw mechanism, allowing for precise setting of the working horizon from 5 to 12 cm.
• Hitch System: The standardized hitch allows the KPS to be paired with most tractors of the relevant traction class commonly used in farming operations.

In the field, the KPS is a workhorse valued for its ease of maintenance. Access to all assemblies is straightforward, and most play or wear can be addressed directly in the field without the need for complex hydraulic or electronic diagnostic equipment.
