Pink Prospector

Gladiolus 'Pink Prospector' is a perennial plant with striking large flowers, reaching 13-15 cm in length. The flowers have a unique pink-lilac hue with a dense ruffled petal edge, resembling the wing of a vibrant tropical bird. Petals may feature light areas near the base or edges, as well as vivid magenta or lilac veining, adding expressiveness and decorative appeal. Inflorescences consist of 20-25 buds, with approximately 7 blooming simultaneously, creating a bright accent on the flowerbed. Plant height varies from 100 to 120 cm, with blooming period lasting from July to September, ensuring prolonged decorative effect.

For successful cultivation of 'Pink Prospector' gladiolus, select sunny, wind-protected sites with loose, fertile soil that does not retain excess moisture. Plant bulbs in open ground after soil has warmed to 12°C, typically starting in mid-March or late May to avoid frost damage. Pre-sprouting bulbs in pots can accelerate flowering. During the growing season, plants require regular moderate watering and feeding with complex fertilizers.

Gladiolus 'Pink Prospector' is excellent for cutting and creating festive bouquets, and pairs well with roses and delphiniums, especially contrasting in color. However, this variety is susceptible to fungal diseases such as rot and fusarium, as well as pests like thrips and root mites, requiring timely care and preventive measures. In October, after flowering ends, bulbs are dug up, flower stems are cut, and bulbs are stored until the next season.
