Description
Mid-season ripening variety, obtained at the Southern Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable Growing and Potato Cultivation by pollinating the 'Chelyabinsk Red' variety with a pollen mixture of the 'Smena' and 'Russian' varieties. Developed by V.S. Ilyin. Since 1995, it has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements approved for use in the Volga-Vyatka region.
Strong-growing, medium-spreading, dense bush. Growing shoots are medium-thick, slightly curved, green, and hairless. Thorns on shoots are long, medium-thick, light-brown, single, occasionally double or triple, absent in the upper part of the shoots.
Leaf five-lobed, with deep, narrow notches, medium-sized, dark green, wrinkled, leathery, weakly shiny, blade concave along the central vein of the middle lobe. Lobes are rounded, middle lobe longer than lateral ones, medium-width, with additional protrusions. Angle between middle veins of lateral lobes is acute, occasionally straight; lateral lobes are narrow, elongated, rounded, widely spaced. Basal lobes are well-developed. Base of the leaf has a deep, medium, or shallow, rounded notch.
Teeth are large, blunt, not curled. Petiole is medium length and thickness, slightly hairy, light green.
Flowers are medium-sized, pale in color, arranged in single- and two-flowered inflorescences. Sepals are medium in length and width, reflexed.
Berries are large (4.0–9.5 g), relatively uniform, oval-rounded, pink, hairless. Seed count is medium. Flavor is tender, slightly tart-sweet, rated 4.7 points; berries are of universal use. Receptacle is medium-sized, closed, pedicel is medium-length and thin. Chemical composition: total sugar content — 9.4%, titratable acidity — 2.8%, ascorbic acid — 38.7 mg/100 g.
Cold-hardy, high-yielding, average multi-year yield is 6.7 t/ha, maximum — 11.0 t/ha (2.0–3.3 kg/plant), self-fertile, weakly affected by powdery mildew.
Advantages of the variety: large berry size, flavor quality, low susceptibility to powdery mildew.
Disadvantages of the variety: medium resistance to anthracnose.
