Selective systemic herbicide for effective grass weed control in industrial and vegetable crops.
Description
Systemic control of grass weeds: technical analysis of Adelit
Adelit is a selective post-emergence herbicide based on quizalofop-P-ethyl (aryloxyphenoxypropionate group). Manufactured by the "Agrochemical Factory" in Cherkasy, the product is designed for foliar application, providing systemic control over a wide range of annual and perennial grass weeds, including couch grass, barnyard grass, and wild oats.
Mechanism of action and pharmacokinetics
The active ingredient is an acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitor. Upon contact with the leaf surface, the herbicide is rapidly absorbed by the weed and translocated via the phloem to the growth points and root system. The blockade of fatty acid synthesis leads to the cessation of cell division and tissue necrosis. The practical advantage of this formulation (emulsifiable concentrate) is its high degree of adhesion to the leaf surface and its ability to penetrate the waxy layer of weeds without the need for additional aggressive surfactants.
Agrotechnical recommendations
The efficiency of the application depends on the weed growth stage: the optimal result is achieved when applied at the 2–4 leaf stage for annual species and when couch grass is 10–15 cm tall.
- Usage on crops: fodder beet, winter rapeseed, soy, sunflower, flax, peas, potatoes.
- Application rate: 0.4–1.2 l/ha (depending on weed species composition and infestation level).
- Maximum number of treatments: 1 per season.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
