Systemic clopyralid-based herbicide designed for the control of persistent weeds in cereal and industrial crops.
Description
Mechanism of action: systemic control of broadleaf weeds
Alfa-Piralid WSC is based on clopyralid (300 g/L), a member of the synthetic auxin class. Unlike contact agents, this active ingredient exhibits high systemic activity. Once applied to the leaf surface, it is rapidly absorbed and translocated throughout the entire plant—from meristematic tissues to the root system. This is critical for controlling taproot perennials such as sow thistle and creeping thistle: the product forces the weed to grow uncontrollably, triggering cell division disruption and metabolic failure, which leads to the total death of the weed.
Technical application details
The water-soluble concentrate (WSC) formulation ensures immediate homogenization of the spray solution within the sprayer tank. The absence of sediment prevents nozzle clogging, which is essential for fine-droplet spray applications. As a selective herbicide, Alfa-Piralid integrates seamlessly into crop protection plans for cereals, rapeseed, corn, flax, and fodder beets.
- Effective Spectrum: Suppresses the most troublesome species, including ragweed, sow thistle, chamomile, field bindweed, and black nightshade.
- Operational Workflow: Maximum efficacy is achieved during post-emergence application on actively growing weeds.
- Application Rate: 0.3–0.5 L/ha is sufficient for complete neutralization of competitive flora in a single seasonal application.
Manufactured by F.Meaton Limited (UK) under Alfa-Himgroup standards, this herbicide ensures predictable performance when following regulatory guidelines. Its Class 3 hazard rating makes it relatively safe to handle, provided that standard safety protocols and application rates are strictly observed.

By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Based on the method of application, herbicides are divided into foliar, soil, and root herbicides. Foliar herbicides are applied to vegetative plants and act through their above-ground organs. The main method of application for such preparations is spraying using sprayers or airp... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
