Synergistic Weed Control for Soybean Crops
«Flagman Extra» is a contact, post-emergence selective herbicide manufactured by the «Agrochemical Factory» (Cherkasy, Ukraine). It is specifically engineered to manage broadleaf weed infestations in soybean fields by combining two potent active ingredients: bentazone and acifluorfen. This dual-action approach ensures a broader spectrum of control, targeting even those species that often develop resistance to single-active-ingredient herbicides.
Technical Breakdown of the Formulation
- Bentazone (benzothiadiazinones): Works as a photosynthesis inhibitor at the photosystem II level. Being a contact herbicide, it causes rapid necrosis of weed foliage upon direct contact.
- Acifluorfen: Functions as a Protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor. It triggers lipid peroxidation in weed cell membranes, leading to rapid cell wall destruction when exposed to solar radiation.
The water-soluble concentrate formulation ensures quick absorption into weed tissues. As a post-emergence herbicide, it is applied at a rate of 1.0–2.0 L/ha to control common weeds such as white goosefoot, redroot pigweed, field mustard, wild radish, shepherd's purse, chickweed, black nightshade, and common purslane.
