A powerful soil-applied systemic shield for corn and sunflower against grasses and broadleaf weeds.
Description
Mechanism of Action and Synergy
FORTENDO, SC by Agrostar Chemical is a dual-component soil herbicide featuring a synergistic blend of Terbuthylazine (triazines) and S-metolachlor (chloroacetamides). This combination provides a powerful dual-action strike against weeds at their most vulnerable growth stages, targeting two fundamental biological pathways.
Technical Breakdown
- S-metolachlor: Acts as a cell division inhibitor. It prevents protein and lipid synthesis in weed sprouts, effectively halting development before emergence. This makes it exceptionally effective against grassy weed species.
- Terbuthylazine: Absorbed primarily through the roots, it targets the photosynthesis process within weeds. Even if a weed manages to germinate, this component induces chlorosis and eventual necrosis. It significantly broadens the control spectrum against broadleaf weeds.
Formulated as a suspension concentrate, this product ensures excellent tank-mix stability and uniform distribution across the topsoil layer. As a systemic herbicide, it is absorbed by sprout tissues and roots, making it an optimal solution for pre-emergence application in corn and sunflower fields.
Practical Application Standards
The application rate ranges from 2.0 to 3.0 L/ha, depending on soil texture, organic matter content, and weed pressure. On lighter soils with low humus levels, lower rates are recommended, whereas heavier, clay-rich soils require higher doses to maintain an effective chemical barrier. Being a selective herbicide, FORTENDO, SC maintains high safety for crop plants when applied according to the labeled rates, effectively eliminating competition for water and nutrients at the critical early stages of crop development.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
