Description
Technical Profile of Globstar 750, WG: Systemic Control of Broad-Leaved Weeds
Globstar 750, WG is a high-concentration systemic herbicide based on tribenuron-methyl (750 g/kg). Developed by the German company DVA Agro in partnership with DVA Chemicals production facilities, it provides farmers with a tool featuring a selective mechanism for suppressing broad-leaved weeds in cereal crops and sunflowers. The key technical advantage of this product is its formulation — water-dispersible granules (WG) ensure excellent stability of the spray solution and rapid penetration through the leaf surface.
Mechanism of Action and Molecular Efficiency
The active ingredient belongs to the sulfonylurea group and targets the weed's critical enzyme, acetolactate synthase (ALS). Blocking this enzyme instantly halts cell division at the growth points. An essential feature of Globstar 750, WG is its systemic mobility: the product translocates through the xylem and phloem, allowing it to effectively reach parts of the weed that were not directly hit by the spray solution during application.
- Speed of Action: Weed growth stops hours after treatment, initial signs of chlorosis appear within 5–10 days, and complete necrosis occurs within 2–3 weeks.
- Selectivity: Crop plants (wheat, barley, sunflower) have the metabolic capacity to break down tribenuron-methyl, making the herbicide safe when applied according to the label.
- Application Flexibility: As a post-emergence herbicide, it allows agronomists to assess field infestation levels precisely before dispatching equipment.
The application rate ranges from 0.015 to 0.05 kg/ha, depending on the weed spectrum and growth stage. The optimal application window is the active growth phase of broad-leaved weeds (from 2 to 4 true leaves), when metabolic activity in the target plants is at its peak. Due to its classification as a Category 3 hazard, Globstar 750, WG is convenient to handle while requiring standard safety protocols during tank mixture preparation.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
