A powerful triple-active herbicide designed for superior pre-emergence control of grass and broad-leaved weeds in maize.
Description
Triple-action synergy: the chemistry of Lumax
Lumax 537.5 SE is more than just a pre-emergence herbicide; it is a sophisticated technological formulation that integrates three active ingredients—terbuthylazine, mesotrione, and S-metolachlor—each targeting weeds through distinct physiological pathways. This combination allows for both pre-emergence control of germinating weeds and post-emergence suppression of early-stage seedlings, ensuring a clean start for maize crops.
Technical specifications and mechanism of action
- S-metolachlor: Inhibits cell division in the meristematic tissues of weed seedlings. It functions as a persistent soil barrier, stopping weeds before they break the soil surface.
- Mesotrione: An inhibitor of 4-HPPD, which blocks carotenoid biosynthesis. This leads to the bleaching (chlorosis) of growing points, followed by rapid plant death. It provides high selectivity for maize crops.
- Terbuthylazine: Targets photosynthesis, enhancing the overall herbicidal impact and extending the residual protection within the soil profile.
The Suspended Emulsion (SE) formulation ensures high stability of the tank mix and uniform distribution across the soil surface. Due to its systemic nature, the herbicide is rapidly absorbed by roots and coleoptiles, providing targeted protection without compromising crop vigor. It acts as a selective herbicide, focusing solely on the competition posed by annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds.
Application and performance
At an application rate of 3–4.5 L/ha, Lumax establishes a robust soil shield. As a pre-emergence solution, its efficacy is optimized by soil moisture, which facilitates the uptake of active ingredients into the weed germination zone. Implementing this herbicide effectively eliminates the need for mechanical weeding and ensures that the crop develops in a weed-free environment during its most vulnerable stage of growth.

By type of action
By type of action
Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

By application method
Based on the method of application, herbicides are divided into foliar, soil, and root herbicides. Foliar herbicides are applied to vegetative plants and act through their above-ground organs. The main method of application for such preparations is spraying using sprayers or airp... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
