How Montalin Works

Montalin is a selective systemic herbicide featuring Pendimethalin. Its primary function is to establish a defensive barrier within the top layer of the soil. As weeds germinate, the active ingredient interrupts cell division in their roots and shoots, neutralising them before they can even break the soil surface.

Field Application Strategy

To maximize results, Montalin should be applied immediately after sowing but before the sunflower crop emerges. This approach streamlines farm operations, allowing for robust weed control in a single pass.

• Application Rate: 2.0 to 3.0 liters per hectare. The dosage should be tailored to soil type: lighter soils with low humus content require the lower rate, while heavier, clay-rich soils perform better with the higher rate.
• Soil Moisture Requirement: As a pre-emergence soil herbicide, Montalin relies on soil moisture for optimal efficacy. It is most effective when applied under moist conditions or followed by light rain, which helps the active ingredient reach the germination zone of the weeds.
• Crop Safety: The product is highly selective, meaning it targets problematic annual grasses and broadleaf weeds without inhibiting the growth or development of the sunflower seedlings, provided standard application guidelines are followed.
