"Nikofur, WG" is a selective post-emergence herbicide based on nicosulfuron. Unlike soil-applied alternatives, this is a foliar-applied agent that penetrates weed tissues directly through the green biomass. The active ingredient rapidly inhibits the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme, resulting in an immediate cessation of cell division. Within hours of application, weeds stop growing, with visible signs of necrosis appearing within 5–7 days.

Technical Composition Features

The water-dispersible granule formulation ensures high stability of the working solution. In field conditions, this means no sedimentation in the sprayer tank and uniform distribution of the active substance over the crop leaf blade. With an application rate of 0.05–0.07 kg/ha, "Nikofur" demonstrates high selectivity, causing no stress to corn when applied according to official guidelines.

Weed Control Spectrum

The product effectively suppresses the development of a wide range of grass and broad-leaved weeds:

• Perennial grasses: Couch grass (Elymus repens).
• Annual grasses: Barnyard grass, yellow foxtail.
• Broad-leaved weeds: Redroot pigweed, field mustard, shepherd's purse, common ragweed.

Its systemic action allows for effective control of couch grass, even if it has passed the active growth phase, which is crucial for preventing competition for moisture and nutrients during the early stages of corn development.

Practical Application Aspects

A single application per season is sufficient to achieve maximum effect. "Nikofur, WG" is classified as a Hazard Class 3 chemical, requiring standard safety measures during the preparation of the mother solution and field operations. It is important to note that the high efficiency of the herbicide is achieved specifically through foliar application; therefore, the optimal timing is during the active growth phase of the weeds, when their metabolism is most intense, ensuring the active ingredient travels through the phloem and xylem at maximum speed.
