"Quattro Gold OD" is a high-performance herbicide utilizing oil dispersion (OD) technology. Unlike standard emulsifiable concentrates, the oil carrier acts as a penetration enhancer. It significantly improves droplet adhesion to the waxy leaf surfaces of weeds, preventing runoff and ensuring that the active ingredients penetrate the cuticle efficiently to reach the plant's vascular system.

Synergistic Multi-Component Action

The product, developed by Sparta Research Ltd. (Ireland), integrates four distinct active substances, each targeting different metabolic pathways of weeds such as common lambsquarters, redroot pigweed, and common chickweed:

• Desmedipham and Phenmedipham: These carbamates act by inhibiting photosynthesis, specifically by blocking electron transport within the chloroplasts.
• Ethofumesate: A benzofuran derivative that interferes with cell division (mitosis) and lipid synthesis, providing systemic control through both leaves and roots.
• Lenacil: A uracil derivative that provides sustained soil residual activity, essential for preventing successive flushes of weeds in beet crops.

This formulation allows Quattro Gold OD to act as a selective systemic herbicide. Its chemical profile is engineered to target unwanted vegetation while remaining gentle on beet crops, ensuring weed control without compromising crop vigor.

Operational Guidelines

Designed for post-emergence application in forage and table beets, Quattro Gold OD offers significant operational flexibility. With a usage rate of 1–3 L/ha and the allowance for up to 3 treatments per season, it gives growers the ability to manage weed competition precisely throughout the critical growth stages.
