A selective post-emergence herbicide for controlling broadleaf weeds in beet crops with high efficacy during early growth stages.
Description
Technical Potential of the Active Ingredient Combination
Stefan Noviy, SC is a classic dual-component herbicide based on carbamate derivatives. The synergy of phenmedipham and desmedipham (160 g/l each) provides high selectivity when protecting sugar, table, and fodder beet crops. This specific concentration is designed to ensure rapid penetration through the cuticle of weeds at their early development stages (cotyledons to two true leaves).
Mechanism of Action: Molecular Level
Both components block the photosynthesis process in weeds by disrupting the Hill reaction. As a contact herbicide, the product’s efficacy depends heavily on the quality of coverage on the leaf surface. The suspension concentrate formulation allows the active ingredients to adhere better to leaves and distribute evenly, minimizing the risk of wash-off by precipitation.
Control Spectrum and Dosage
The product is highly effective against a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including common lamb's quarters, redroot pigweed, field mustard, shepherd's purse, common chickweed, common fumitory, purple deadnettle, and field pansy. Due to its selective nature, the herbicide allows the crop to develop without competition for nutrients and moisture during its most sensitive growth period.
- Application Flexibility: Post-emergence application with the possibility of split dosing (up to 3 times per season) allows agronomists to adapt to weed emergence flushes.
- Dosage: The standard rate varies from 1 to 3 l/ha, depending on the weed growth stage and field infestation levels.
- Safety: The product belongs to hazard class 3, requiring standard precautions when handling plant protection products.
The manufacturing is carried out by DDE Farm AG (Triesen, Liechtenstein), ensuring the stability of the chemical formula and the purity of the active substances. Adhering to application technology during the early weed growth phases ensures maximum herbicidal effect without phytotoxic impact on beet crops.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
