Reliable post-emergence control of grasses and broad-leaved weeds in corn with excellent crop selectivity.
Description
Protecting corn crops: why we rely on Supersonic
When it comes to herbicide treatment for corn, the challenge is always the same: eliminating tough weeds like couch grass without damaging the crop. Using Supersonic by Nufarm, we’ve found a consistent and reliable solution. This oil-in-water emulsion, powered by Nicosulfuron, provides excellent systemic and selective control, even when weather conditions aren't perfect.
Application and Weed Spectrum
From an operational perspective, the ease of application is a major advantage. Supersonic is a post-emergence herbicide applied directly to the foliage. With an application rate of 1.0 to 2.0 L/ha, we can adjust the dosage based on field infestation levels. One treatment per season is sufficient to achieve clean rows. The herbicide is highly effective against:
- Grasses: Common couch (Elymus repens), Barnyard grass, Green foxtail.
- Broad-leaved weeds: Redroot pigweed, Field mustard, Common ragweed.
The systemic action allows the herbicide to rapidly translocate through the weed tissues, halting growth while keeping the corn safe due to the product's high selectivity.
Tips for field handling
Working with a Hazard Class 2 product requires strict adherence to safety protocols. We appreciate the oil-in-water formulation, as it ensures better adhesion to the leaf surface, which is crucial in dry spells or when weeds are slightly past their optimal growth stage. As a post-emergence herbicide, it gives us the flexibility to rescue fields that were missed early on, though timely application remains our recommendation to ensure maximum yield potential without competition from weeds.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
