Biological pest control mechanism

"Aktofit, KE" by "Ukrzoovetprompostach" is a biological insectoacaricide based on a complex of natural avermectins (aversectin C). Unlike synthetic chemicals, this product acts on a neurotoxic level: upon contact or ingestion, the active components block nerve impulses in the pest, leading to paralysis and death within 48 to 72 hours.

Why it matters in practice

• Translaminar effect: The product penetrates leaf tissues, creating a microscopic reservoir of the active substance within the plant. This is critical for controlling spider mites, which often hide on the underside of leaves and remain inaccessible to standard contact pesticides.
• Short pre-harvest interval: Due to its natural origin, the waiting period before harvest is only 2 days. This allows for the use of Aktofit even during the active ripening phase of vegetables (cucumbers, peppers, strawberries) when synthetic pesticides are prohibited.
• Contact action: The emulsifiable concentrate forms a uniform film upon spraying, ensuring immediate impact on Colorado potato beetles, aphids, and thrips.

Application nuances

For maximum efficacy, temperature control is essential: the product works best at temperatures above +18°C. In cooler weather, the activity of avermectins decreases significantly. The maximum number of applications is limited to 1–2 treatments per growing season to prevent the development of insect resistance. Rated as hazard class 3, the product is relatively safe for human handling provided standard personal protective equipment is used.
