A powerful combination of a neonicotinoid and a pyrethroid for immediate and systemic pest control.
Description
Synergy against resistance: how Arkero works
In modern agricultural conditions, pest control is complicated by rapid adaptation to single-active ingredient products. Arkero by ADAMA addresses this challenge through a dual-mode of action: acetamiprid (neonicotinoid) and bifenthrin (pyrethroid). This combination provides both an immediate knockdown effect and long-lasting systemic protection.
Technical breakdown: components and mechanism
The product's efficacy is driven by different biochemical pathways targeting the insect's nervous system:
- Acetamiprid: a systemic component that is quickly absorbed by the plant. It affects nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, leading to nervous system collapse. Because it moves within the plant, it protects new growth even after application.
- Bifenthrin: a contact and stomach insecticide that disrupts nerve impulses. It delivers an immediate paralytic effect, which is critical during periods of high pest pressure.
The suspension concentrate formulation ensures solution stability and superior leaf surface coverage. This is especially important when protecting crops with a waxy cuticle, such as oilseed rape, potato, or sunflower.
Practical application guidelines
Arkero is highly effective against a wide range of pests, including the Colorado potato beetle, wheat bug, aphids, and thrips. With a dosage range of 0.5 to 1.0 L/ha, it offers flexibility based on pest density. Up to two treatments per season are allowed, enabling farmers to cover critical developmental stages of the crop when the risk of vegetative or reproductive organ damage is at its peak.
Due to its high toxicity to bees (Hazard Class 2), it is imperative to strictly follow spraying protocols: avoid application during the blooming period and conduct operations during evening hours. The systemic nature of acetamiprid paired with the aggressive contact action of bifenthrin makes this tool a reliable choice for managing hidden and sap-sucking pests.
