Effective crop protection with «Stef-Alpha-Zip»: an agronomist's view

When pests like weevils or flea beetles hit the field, every hour counts. In my practice, for emergency control of pest outbreaks, I frequently rely on Stef-Alpha-Zip from DDE Farm AG. Field Application Experience

For me, as an operator, predictability is key. This insecticide is a 'heavy hitter' with contact action. It does not penetrate deep into the plant tissues but instantly paralyses the pest upon contact. The main advantage is high efficacy at low dosage rates (up to 0.5 L/ha). This significantly optimizes the logistics of the spray solution: fewer canisters in storage and less strain on the sprayer pump and system.

Target Pests & Crops:

• Technical crops: protecting winter oilseed rape from blossom beetles and cruciferous flea beetles.
• Cereals: on winter wheat and barley, Stef-Alpha-Zip effectively controls cereal leaf beetles and the Sunn pest.
• Beets and Peas: eliminates complexes of weevils and pea seed beetles.

The product comes as an emulsifiable concentrate that mixes consistently with water without sediment or separation. An important planning detail: a maximum of two treatments per season is allowed. This forces precise monitoring of the economic threshold, ensuring field entry only when absolutely necessary. Because it works via contact, high-quality coverage is essential: fine-droplet nozzle calibration is a must. Given the Class 2 hazard rating, standard PPE protocols apply, but when following the label, the application process is straightforward and free of mechanical surprises.
