Description
Curly lettuce is an early, high-yielding Batavia-type variety intended for year-round cultivation, both in open ground and under cover. It grows well during the spring-summer period in open fields, and successfully thrives in polyethylene and glass greenhouses during winter. The plant forms a large, semi-raised rosette with large, curly, crisp, juicy leaves of rich green color, possessing excellent flavor without bitterness. The lettuce is resistant to early bolting and tolerant to bolting, ensuring a stable yield.
Curly lettuce seeds germinate at temperatures of 4-5°C, and seedlings can withstand frosts down to -2°C, making this variety cold-resistant and suitable for cultivation on sunny, fertile sites. It is recommended to sow seeds early in spring, with intervals of 6-10 days until August, sowing them at a depth of 0.5–1 cm. For optimal yield, regular care is required, including thinning, watering, and timely harvesting of leaves during rosette formation.
The Curly variety requires light, loose soils, which promote its good development and high yield — approximately 800 plants per 100 m². Due to its resistance to pests and adaptability to various growing conditions, this lettuce is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a tasty and nutritious product throughout the season.
