Description
The AVATAR® chickpea variety is a high-yielding, disease- and pest-resistant crop intended for cultivation in various climatic zones. This mid-season fodder variety is characterized by high yield and is adapted to the Central Black Earth region conditions, allowing for the expansion of the cultivation area of this valuable grain legume.
The AVATAR variety features average yields of approximately 28.2 centners per hectare, which exceeds the regional average standard by 3.9 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 33.1 centners per hectare. Protein content in the grain can reach 22%, making it attractive for fodder use. Over the years of trials, the variety has demonstrated high resistance to diseases and absence of pest damage, contributing to the stable production of quality harvests.
A distinct feature of the variety is its high responsiveness to pre-sowing inoculation with industrial strains of root nodule bacteria Mesorhizobium ciceri, which contributes to improved nitrogen fixation and increased productivity. The inclusion of the AVATAR variety in the State Register of Breeding Achievements confirms its breeding quality and suitability for widespread use in Russian agriculture.
