KRASNOKUTSKY 28 — a chickpea variety developed by the Krasnokutskaya Breeding Station, characterized by high drought tolerance and resistance to lodging and shattering. The plant has a shrub-like form with a height of 45 to 75 cm, featuring a high attachment of lower pods at the level of 22–25 cm, which facilitates harvesting with standard grain combines. The seeds are yellow or beige of an intermediate form, possessing high commercial and culinary qualities.
The variety belongs to mid-season types with a vegetative period ranging from 65 to 90 days and requires a sum of effective temperatures in the range of 1800–2000 °C for full maturation. It grows well on various soil types, including chernozems, chestnut soils, dark chestnut soils, and gray forest soils, making it versatile for cultivation in different regions, including the Rostov region.
The yield of the KRASNOKUTSKY 28 variety reaches 3.5–3.9 tons per hectare, with a potential of up to 4.5 tons per hectare. Due to the combination of high productivity, resistance to adverse conditions, and seed quality, this variety is popular among agricultural producers.
