Description
AGU 75 oat is a wintering variety of Avena sativa L. with a medium-late vegetation period ranging from 232 to 241 days, maturing simultaneously with the benchmark Meezmay variety. It is characterized by lodging resistance and winter hardiness at the standard level, ensuring stable yields. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 29 to 36 grams, while the average grain yield reaches 26.8 centners per hectare; green matter converted to dry substance amounts to 60.7 centners per hectare. The variety is recommended for cultivation both for grain and green feed, making it versatile in agricultural production. AGU 75 is distinguished by good resistance to major oat diseases, such as crown and stem rust, septoria, and loose smut. A comparative analysis conducted with an ideotype model of wintering oats showed that the variety corresponds to optimal parameters in terms of productive tillering, awn length, number of florets and grains, as well as grain mass per awn and plant. Furthermore, fat, protein content, and grain hulling degree were studied, confirming the high quality and economic value of the variety. In addition to grain use, AGU 75 oats are valued for their agronomic properties that contribute to soil improvement. It is actively used as a supporting crop in mixtures with legume cover crops, such as vetch and peas, improving acidic bog soils and drained peatlands. After the decomposition of green matter in the soil, easily digestible fertilizer is formed, enriching the soil with organic matter and humus. Oats facilitate the conversion of poorly soluble potassium compounds into a plant-available form, protect soil from erosion, and improve conditions for microbial activity. Oat grains are a valuable feed for horses and, when ground, for cows. Successful cultivation requires sufficient moisture during seed germination and from tillering to heading.
