Description
Spring oats variety «Foma» is a mid-early semi-hulled variety with a vegetative period of 71 to 90 days. The plants are of medium height, ranging from 50 to 105 cm, with an erect bush and a semi-one-sided panicle with semi-upward branch arrangement. The ears are drooping, with short glume scales and a moderate wax coating. Awnedness is absent or very weak in this variety, which facilitates harvesting and reduces grain losses. The grain is large and medium-sized, with a 1000-grain weight of 32.5 to 41 g and a bulk density of 450-590 g/l. Variety «Foma» is distinguished by high yield and resistance to unfavorable conditions. The average yield in the region of inclusion is about 35.7 c/ha, while maximum indicators reached 77.7-82.7 c/ha. The variety is resistant to grain shattering and lodging, which contributes to yield preservation during harvesting. Drought resistance is moderate, and disease resistance varies: it is moderately resistant to powdery bunt and crown rust, but susceptible to solid bunt and red-brown spot. The grain of variety «Foma» is valued for its high quality and can be used both for feed purposes and for processing into flakes. Protein content in the grain ranges from 8.9% to 12.8%, making it nutritious and beneficial. The variety was created based on stepwise hybridization and is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Tyumen region, where it has shown high adaptability and stable yields.
