Plants reach a height of 68 to 79 cm, and the mass of 1000 grains is 33-38 g. The panicle is semi-closed, erect, white with a yellowish tint, the grain is large, uniform, and characterized by reduced hulling.
The "Skakun" variety is distinguished by high drought resistance, resistance to lodging and grain shattering, as well as resistance to crown rust and ergot. Thanks to its wide ecological plasticity, it is capable of consistently yielding high harvests in various soil and climatic conditions. The variety responds well to increased agro-photon levels and is suitable for cultivation using intensive technology, making it a profitable choice for modern agricultural enterprises.
Created by hybridization of the Canadian Frezer variety and the Dutch Astor, the "Skakun" variety was bred at the Research Institute of Agriculture for the Central Non-Black Earth Zone with the participation of the Ulyanovsk Research Institute of Agriculture. It has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia and recognized as one of the best varieties by grain technological qualities. Yield of the variety exceeds standard varieties by 5.1-8.5 c/ha, which is confirmed by testing results in various regions.
