Description
The period from germination to harvest ranges from 90 to 120 days, allowing for marketable bulbs to be obtained within one season. Yield is high and varies depending on region and growing conditions: average yield reaches 203 centners per hectare, which is 60 centners above the standard average, and maximum yield can reach up to 366 centners per hectare. Bulbs contain 10–12% dry matter and 6–9% sugars, contributing to good storability and long-term storage.
The Kolos variety is characterized by high maturity before harvest (around 82%) and nearly complete curing (98–100%), ensuring a high-quality market appearance and extended storage life. Due to these characteristics, this onion is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions of the Central Chernozem region and is an excellent choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality yields.
