FINIST

Finist rootstock is a grape rootstock variety developed at the Y.I. Potapenko All-Russian Research Institute of Viticulture and Viniculture (VNIIViV). The variety was obtained in 1988 through the hybridization of the Kretchunel-2 variety with the interspecific form Sey-Viallar 12-375 and Vitis amurensis, which provided it with high frost resistance (-27…30 °C) and resistance to fungal diseases, including phylloxera. Thanks to these properties, Finist is suitable for the northern viticulture zone and can be successfully grown under low-temperature conditions.

Finist is characterized by medium growth, male fruit type, and a short vegetation period. The variety demonstrates high shoot yield and excellent compatibility with scion varieties, which makes it convenient for commercial production. Finist shoots root well, and the variety itself is resistant to common fungal diseases, reducing the need for agrochemical control.

As a result of the combination of frost resistance, high shoot yield, and disease resistance, Finist represents a reliable choice for viticulturists seeking to expand the variety spectrum in northern regions. Its use allows for a stable product yield even under unfavorable climatic conditions.
