UKRO

UKRO is a spring triticale variety bred at the V.Ya. Yuryev Institute of Plant Breeding of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. It belongs to medium-ripening varieties with high resistance to lodging and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. Medium-height plants have a white, dense, fully awned head, and the grain is light brown, medium-sized, and oval-shaped. The average yield of the variety in the Amur Region reaches 23.6 centners per hectare, which is 6% higher than the region's standard indicators, and the yield potential can reach 9.0 tons per hectare under optimal conditions. The UKRO variety has a number of valuable biological features that make it particularly attractive for organic farming. It is capable of effectively absorbing nutrients from the soil, is characterized by increased resistance to spring frosts, drought, as well as damage by pests and diseases. In addition, this triticale variety is not susceptible to common bunt and loose smut, which eliminates the need for seed treatment before sowing, simplifying agronomic measures and reducing costs for plant protection. UKRO is an excellent cover crop for undersowing and reseeding winter crops, especially in conditions of freezing of winter crops. Unlike undersowing with barley, the harvested triticale crop can be used not only as technical fodder but also as food grain due to its high protein content and good baking properties. When processed in combination with wheat, high-quality flour is obtained, which expands the possibilities of crop application and increases the economic efficiency of growing this variety.
