Hemicycliophora similis is a species of ectoparasitic nematode belonging to the family Hemicycliophoridae. As an obligate plant pathogen, it primarily occupies the rhizosphere, using its specialized stylet to feed on the epidermal cells of plant roots, which significantly disrupts the plant's ability to uptake water and nutrients.

This nematode exhibits a broad host range, impacting various agricultural crops, orchard trees, and ornamental plants. The infestation often leads to root deformation, stunted plant growth, chlorosis, and general physiological decline. By damaging the integrity of the root system, the nematode indirectly increases the plant's susceptibility to soil-borne secondary infections.
