The Tucuman flat mite (lat. Brevipalpus tucuman) belongs to the Tenuipalpidae family within the order Trombidiformes. These microscopic arachnids are recognized as significant pests in various agricultural regions, particularly impacting citrus production in South America.

The primary host range for this pest includes citrus species, such as lemons and oranges. Because of its ability to thrive on various plant tissues, the mite can maintain populations on alternative host plants, making it a persistent challenge for integrated pest management programs.

The biology of the mite involves a complex life cycle consisting of the egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages. The mites are typically found on the undersides of leaves, on fruit, and on green shoots.
