The Panormitan field slug (Deroceras panormitanum) is a gastropod mollusc belonging to the family Agriolimacidae. As an invasive species, it has successfully colonized various agricultural and horticultural environments across the globe, becoming a significant challenge for growers due to its high reproductive rate and dietary flexibility.
This pest is a generalist feeder that impacts a wide range of botanical species. It primarily attacks leafy vegetables such as lettuce and cabbage, but is also a notorious consumer of young seedlings, legumes, and various fruits resting on the soil surface. High populations can cause total crop failure in newly established vegetable patches.
