Ecphyadophora is a genus of microscopic parasitic nematodes belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Ecphyadophoridae. These organisms are recognized as significant soil-borne plant pathogens that primarily target the rhizosphere, utilizing their specialized mouthparts to feed on the root systems of various host plants.

These nematodes affect a variety of agricultural crops, including cereals, grasses, and vegetables. By feeding on the internal tissues of the roots, Ecphyadophora species disrupt the plant's vascular system, hindering the uptake of essential water and nutrients. This physiological stress significantly reduces the vigor and yield potential of the infected crops.

The biology and life cycle of Ecphyadophora involve distinct developmental stages, from egg to several larval instars, culminating in the adult form. They are highly adapted to life in the soil environment and can persist for extended periods even in the absence of a preferred host by entering a quiescent state. Their reproduction rate increases significantly when environmental conditions are optimal for plant root growth.
